It never fails

It's amazing that right when you think things are going really well, that something can come along and just ruin that feeling?!?!  Yesterday was going really well, managed to get a lot done.  I moved the boys sleeping situation around a bit.  Monkey needs a bit of space, especially if he's going to have any hope of concentrating.  Little Man has been begging for a bigger bed the last few months, he was in a toddler bed.  So, I decided to move Monkey upstairs into the murphy bed, and Little Man down to Monkey's old bed.  This worked well as I did not need to purchase a new bed, and in fact get to sell one now.

Obviously the rest of the house has been suffering with the work I've been doing, but I felt that some progress was being made.  I got the boys into their beds, and turned the lights out by 8:00 pm.  I was impressed that I only had to go and speak to Bug & Little man once before it was just silence in the house.  I did a little more work at this time, then finally made myself some dinner.  I decided to take it downstairs to enjoy while catching up on some shows.  There was a slight problem with this plan.  I got settled on the couch, and turned the TV on.  I could hear things, but I couldn't see anything?!?!  At first I thought maybe the boys had changed a setting, so tried to get into the menu.  Nothing.  This is when I got up to inspect the TV.  There were two huge cracks on the upper right portion of the screen.  To say I was angry would be an understatement.  I was actually glad that they boys were in bed, as it allowed me time to get myself under control.

A little background.  In April of 2010, I had to replace our TV because Little Man whacked it with a plastic toy hammer.  So, the now broken TV downstairs has only been in this house for 10 months.

When the boys woke up in the morning, we had a family meeting.  I was informed by Little Man that he threw a toy, and it hit the TV.  So then I informed them of a few things.  Firstly, I am NOT buying a new TV at this time.  If I do buy a new TV, it will be for my room, for me only.  Also, the money to purchase that TV will come from the savings fund for their iPads.  As you can imagine, they weren't too happy with this.

I don't know what to do with Little Man these days.  I put him in time outs, his room, and take his toys away when he throws them, but it isn't working!  I never had this much trouble with the other two, then again, I wasn't doing this on my own when they were this age.  I can't really put the blame there, as I was still the main person to hand out punishments, as well as there a lot more than their father.  I'm just at a loss as to how to handle Little Man.

Right now I am concentrating on getting my house completely in hand, get all the things out that we don't need (either sell or donate).  Move the boys craft stuff downstairs to the new craft area, and get my area organized and ready to go.  I'm still positive about how things are going, and know that I am on the right path, it's just these little things that keep coming along and setting me back a bit.

Duck & Cover!

Ever have one of those days that everyone around you should duck and cover?  Well, today is that day for my kids, and anyone brave enough to come over.  I have woken up in a mood, a truly unpleasant mood.  Actually, I think this mood settled in yesterday, it's just now had time to fully blossom and reach it's full potential.  And just what is this mood you dare ask???

I am pissed off!  I am hurt.  I am angry.  I feel slighted.  I am furious.  I want to cry.  I want to inflict pain.  I want to run away.  I want to hide.

Are you wondering what has brought this mood on??  Are you really sure you want to know??  Even if you are brave enough to hang around me today, I couldn't really tell you where this mood came from.  I have some ideas, but nothing that really makes a lot of sense.

So, if you are looking for a good tongue lashing, or beating... come on over!

Making progress

I finally feel like I am making progress! It is now just down to the kitchen really, only a few odds and ends around the house. I have a van full of various things to take out to Cochrane in the morning. I have things for good will, and things of his to drop off out there as well. I will then be making another trip with the van to take some boxes out to my parents place. They have a large storage tent set up by their garage, and three waiting palates. I am hoping to get as much as possible in the tent, to help keep their garage free... although I suspect some items will be finding their way next door, but at least there will still be room for one vehicle.

The boys were as usual running a little wild, doing their best to get my attention. I feel really badly that I can't spend time playing with them, or even reading them a story. Thankfully I only have a week left here, and can then spend as much time doing things with them as I want. Monkey has been really naughty lately, getting into things that just drive me insane! I keep finding creams poured into my sink, plugs moved around, and other various things. Bug just keeps going from one thing to another, and always looking for snuggles. Then there is Little Man. Nothing is safe with him around, it is all fair game! That little mischievous smile of his just pulls on my heart every time though.

It is now time for me to get some sleep, the boys are usually up bright and early... and of course I have a lot to do.

So very tired

I still have at least one week of packing to do, and I am already so very, very tired. I really wish the packing fairy would come here and just get it done for me. I'm thinking I may never move again to just avoid the stress of moving!!!!

To prove just how tired I am, here's what happened at bedtime tonight. The boys of course have been running a little wild this last week, being cooped up in the house most days due to the weather, has not helped the situation one bit. Then Uncle John came over tonight to install the new dishwasher, which I am forever grateful for! But, they of course wanted to help Uncle John, which as I'm sure you all know, isn't really helping. It was then I decided they needed to go to bed early tonight.

At 6:45pm, I had them upstairs getting ready. Shortly after 7pm, they were in their respective beds. I was in the chair in Little Man's room while he was in his bed, trust me, this is an improvement! The last month I have had to hold him so that he can fall asleep, not exactly the highlight of my evenings... although once in a while is nice, but my poor arms need a rest too. Well, next thing you know, I wake up to Little Man playing quietly on his bed, and some chattering coming from down the hallway??? I get up, and head down the hall to see what is going on.

I found Monkey & Bug in the formers room, with the three suitcases from my room, along with a now empty tube of toothpaste (all natural, thank God), and a large pile of toonies!!! How the heck did I miss hearing all that??? They would have had to go right past Little Man's room a few times to get all 3 suitcases out, and then the toonies as well. With three little boys in this house, I usually wake up to the slightest sound. When I was able to get back downstairs, the clock said it was 15 minutes after 8pm.

This all points to a very tired, and stressed out Mama. I can't wait to get this house packed up, and the things I don't want sold or removed for consignment. I just want this part of my life behind me, and move on to better things. I want to live again, not just deal with crap!

Packing, packing & more packing!

We have had crappy weather the last few days, which goes along with the crappy job of packing up this house! I am luckily getting a lot of help from friends and family, but it is still a very large job. I should really be utilizing my evenings once the kids are in bed, but I am so busy during the day packing, dealing with them, getting errands done, and whatever else needs to be done... that I just don't want to spend every evening packing!!!! Although, the quicker I get this done, the quicker I can spend some good quality time with the boys!!!

The boys have just been crazy lately, mostly due to the lack of any real schedule going on right now. Having boxes piling up, Mama busy all the time, and so many changes happening, is not helping things at all right now. What's really not helping is how clingy they are to me these days, makes it hard for my friends to watch them while I try to get some packing done. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is only temporary, and I will have them back to a routine very soon.

Mornings have been improving the last few days. I am making sure I get up around 6am each day, so that I can be ready to help them out right away. We have actually been down to breakfast at a decent time the last few days, something that had been slipping for a few months now. I have never professed to be a morning person, but for them, I am going to have to be. Once school starts next month, we will have to be dressed and out the door by 8am each and every weekday. Right now I'm lucky if we are eating breakfast by 8am.

Another reason to be up earlier, is to avoid massive destruction to this house while I have my shower!!! The things that little man gets into when I leave the room for 5 minutes is impressive, just think of what happens when I am gone for 30 minutes. I came down the other morning to find my used tea bag opened and strewn about the counter, the banana's all had finger holes covering them, the chairs were strategically positioned around the kitchen to access any and all things that appeal to a 20 month old.... which is pretty much everything. It is just too nerve wracking to continue with that... so Mama now has to learn to be up super early each day to get herself ready before diving into the day.

Trying to feel like spring is here...

So, in a very lame attempt to feel like spring might finally be coming... I started our seeds! LOL. So far, it doesn't feel all that much like spring yet... maybe in a few weeks when things start to grow. Or, when all this crappy snow decides to go and bother someone else!

Here is a list of what was started today.
  • Extra Long Chili Peppers
  • Sweet Basil
  • Rosemary
  • Cilantro
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • Golden California Pepper
  • Parsley
  • Beefstake tomato
  • Small Sugar Pumpkin
  • Speckled Swan Gourd
  • Snake Gourd
  • Okra - Penta Dragon
  • White Pampass Grass
  • Cactus Novelty Mix
Yes, some of these are more for the kids than me... but I did promise they could have their own gardens this year! I am really looking forward to getting dirty this year. Last year was a bit too difficult, what with having to chase Little Man around making sure he didn't eat anything LOL. Now that he can play on his own a bit, I should be able to have some time for the Garden. Due to the bit of neglect it got last year, I am considering having someone come by to get it ready. We had asked someone to do a fall clean-up last year, but he never showed up!

Little Man was having a very cranky day today, not sure what was up, but he was not happy! It all started off first thing this morning. I gave him his toothbrush, while I brushed mine. He looked at mine, looked at his, looked at mine, looked at his, and decided that something wasn't right... and fell down on the floor screaming at me! By the time I was dressed, and ready to go downstairs, he had thrown 5 fall down fits. He had a short 45 min nap this morning, but would NOT go down this afternoon... at all... no way... even though he was a screaming disaster. I finally calmed him down with a little In the Night Garden, and was able to leave him to make dinner about 45 minutes later. Shortly after that, Monkey whispers to me that Little Man has fallen asleep! I do have pictures, but am still having problems with downloading... otherwise you could see just how cute he was slumped over on the couch. Monkey was being very sweet making sure that nothing was too loud so that Little Man could keep sleeping.

Hubby has been calling regularly so far this trip, it has been great to hear his voice every day. So far, he doesn't seem to think much of Chennai, India. It would seem that it is one of the yuckier city's in India. He did of course make the comment that he couldn't get much further away from me if he tried LOL. He's just lucky he's so far away, or he might find himself sleeping on the couch LOL.

It's time for me to deal with some laundry, as well as cut some laminating. I had some maze puzzles laminated for the boys, at least this way they can all do the mazes!

Did I say a few inches???

I wasn't correct when I said there was a few inches of snow on the ground... more like 6-8! I just spent a good 45 minutes clearing the sidewalks, and part of the driveway of wet, heavy snow. My hands aren't obeying commands as well as usually, they feel very stiff... can't wait to see how they feel tomorrow, along with my arms, and back. I took some pictures, but for some reason I can't seem to download them from my camera... I think it is a cable issue, but just no sure yet. Here is a news link about all the snow.

At least it was a way to deal with the frustration, and bit of anger, over the boys behavior after dinner. I am getting so very tired of the fits, with the kicking, screaming, and general overall freaking out! I am also tired of hearing how much Monkey hates me, which of course Bug is now saying as well. I am not a bad mother, I don't think I let my kids run rampant. I wouldn't say they are the most well behaved children, but lately it feels like it is slowly getting worse. I don't want to feel like I have to stay home because of how they act... but I also don't want to be in public when they act up either!

Hubby did call this afternoon, which was around 2am for him in India. He had just arrived in Chennai a little while earlier, and was on his way to the hotel. He of course had to comment on how it was 28° there, not what you say to your wife when she will shortly have to dig her way out of the house to get the boys to school!!!! I will admit to being a smidge jealous of this trip, I can hardly wait until we are all able to see these places as well. I want to experience all the different places, and people, that the world has to offer. I want our boys to understand how, and why, other people live the way they do. I want them to experience the world!

If anyone has any ideas on how to get my boys to stop the crazy freak outs when not getting their way... please let me know. And No, I do not give in... I can be a very stubborn person when need be.

Rant coming...

I really try my best to not say anything negative about hubby, I don't think it's very productive in our marriage. But, I am sad, hurt, and angry right now, and need to get this out.

As you all know, he has been gone a lot for business lately... it is just the way things are right now. I know he is busy, jet-lagged, and in a different time zone than us... but...

It is the WEEKEND, turn your damn PHONE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to talk to you, the kids would love to talk to you. The last 3 Weekends your phone has been off for one reason or another. You are about to travel to India, which then puts you 11.5 hours ahead of us. Please, please just give myself, and the boys a chance to say 'Hi', we miss you!

The boys especially need to hear from you, they have hardly seen, or talked, to you for 2 months. You must realize that this affects them, and not in the best way either.

Okay, I feel a little better. It just really puts a kink in my day when I can't talk to him. When he is home, we see each other throughout the day since he works from home. It isn't helping that there is a few inches of snow on the ground, especially after the wonderful warm spring weather we have been having. Knowing that Hubby is about to enjoy +30°C weather in India... definitely not helping either. I just don't know how to get through to him how much the boys, and I, need this from him.

Alright, it is time to make some breakfast for my monsters. Ugh, I hate snow days!

First Day of Spring

Well, officially spring has started! It's about time LOL. As much as I have been looking forward to the start of warm weather here, it hasn't been the best day. It all started off with a bang at 5:30am with Little Man screaming away in his crib. Settled him back down, scream at 6am, settle him back down, scream at 6:30am. I think you get the idea. Finally give up, and bring him downstairs. At this point I notice him tugging on his right ear.... great... I gave him some Advil, and made everyone breakfast. After a half hour or so, he finally started to get happy again.

After dropping Monkey off at school, I called the Dr's office to get Little Man in ASAP. Thankfully she could sneak us in just before 11am. One problem with this, I need to pick Monkey up from school! So, I call up my Mom to get him for me, thank goodness she could do this. In the meantime, off to the playplace for a little fun until it's time to see our Dr. Yah, not so much fun, and no, it was not because of Little Man. Bug decided to have a massive fit (I believe the 3rd of the day, and it was only 10am), so we had to leave. I didn't want to do anything that he might even remotely consider fun, so I parked in my Mom's store parking lot. After 25 minutes he finally says 'Sorry'... 25 minutes of crying, and whining. How could this day get any better???

At 11am I get in to see our Dr, and sure enough Little Man has another ear infection. He hadn't had one for almost 5 months, guess this means that he will definitely be having surgery in May. After getting the prescription, we pick up Monkey from my Mom's store, and head home. I had really been looking forward to having the Nanny over this afternoon... with feeling this sick, I was considering having a nap, or taking Monkey with me to get some seeds to start. Again, things didn't go according to plan. Her little guy (he's 8 months), is sick with a stomach bug of some kind. Totally understandable, but still sucks to be me.

It feels like today has consisted of fit, after fit, after fit. Whining, and screaming, and whining. Monkey, and Bug did not get get any dinner tonight. I asked them to clean all the toys up in the yard before coming in for dinner. They of course just played around, goofed off, you name it. They had been warned that they would not be eating if it was not done by 6pm, which is 30 minutes after dinner is on the table. Sure enough, 6pm roles around, the yard is exactly the same. I had them all in bed by 7pm tonight... well except for Bug. He just will not stay in his room anymore! I have finally (40 minutes ago) locked his door, and can still hear him screaming away. You would think he would have gone to sleep by now.

I do feel a bit bad for doing this, but spending 1 & 1/2 hours putting him back to bed is just not an option. I need my time in the evenings to clean, relax, and get ready for the next day. This is especially vital with Hubby gone so long right now. If he is still going on when I am done here, I will go and talk to him. I just don't know what to do about this night time thing, it really needs to stop for my sanity's sake.

On to gardening. I want to try the upside down tomato planters this year, but don't really want to spend the $20 that they go for. I found this homemade option, that truthfully looks a lot nicer than the other ones anyways! Thankfully I don't need to figure out the drilling part right now, power tools are not really my friends LOL. Hubby will be home before I need these, but I will most likely get the supplies now.

Quick post before bed.

So, it has not been the best, or the worst, week so far around here. I am now sick (head type cold), tired from multiple night wake-ups, and stressed from doing it all on my own! Although I can't say it is all on my own now, as I did hire a P/T Nanny last week... why didn't I do this sooner???? I have asked her to come nice and early tomorrow to help me out at the worst time around here... getting out the door to school! So, I will just be taking Bug, and leaving Monkey, and Little Man here with her. I'm hoping that by having her come a few mornings like this that I can reduce my stress a lot. It will go down much more when Hubby finally comes home, which won't be for another 3.5 weeks.

I was informed by Monkey last night, after I gave the ultimatum of 'Sit at the table, and eat your dinner, or go to bed', that He is going to Hate me Forever, and Live with Grandma Forever! I told him it was fine if he hated me, but that he would not be living with Grandma. Crazy Monkey LOL. This from the boy whom I found curled up in my bed the other night when I went to get in, he stayed the whole night with me snuggled up. That has not happened in a very, very long time.

Little Man finally got into see the ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) Dr this afternoon. Since we haven't had any ear infections since October, I figured he would just send us on our way. Well, that isn't exactly what happened. Little Man has fluid bulging in his ears (which would explain the frequent screaming at night lately), thankfully not infected though. Due to the fluid, and the history of ear infections, he wants him to get tubes put in his ears. We are scheduled for surgery May 5th. Prior to the surgery, we will see the Dr again to see how his ears are doing. If they are better, he may postpone surgery... we just have to wait and see.

I know this is a simple easy surgery, not as bad as when Monkey had a testicle retracted last year, but it doesn't mean that it isn't freaking me out! I felt like crying on the drive home. At this point I don't know for sure whether Hubby will be home at that time or not, but we probably won't know until a few days before. So, I will be making sure I have back-up sitters available for Monkey, and Bug while I am with Little Man.

This just freaking sucks!

I had a feeling....

I finally got hold of Hubby a little while ago, sure enough his phone was dead. He had just started charging it when he got on the train to London a few minutes earlier. I was able to fill him in on the highlights from the last few days, had to make it quick as cell service is spotty at best when on the trains. We were also able to talk about any other trips he may have coming up.

I have had a feeling for the last few weeks, that hubby's business trips were just going to get worse... women's intuition or whatever. Sure enough, doesn't sound like he is going to be home all that much this year. He will be home tomorrow, then down to Ohio from Wednesday to Friday. He then figures he will be back to Ohio the next week.

He says that things are just getting crazy busy, with new jobs coming up left, right, and centre! He thinks he will be heading to India in a little while, as they just got a contract for there. He mentioned somewhere else, but I can't remember where now?!?!

He says that he really hopes the company sells soon. He is no longer listed as a founder (had his name taken off back in November), so he will have more control if the buyer's want him to come work with them for any length of time. I've told him that if they are willing to pay enough, we can handle things for a little while longer.

Now I just need the strength to handle the boys, and household matters on my own for a while!

I came close to losing it today... in some ways I did!

This has been a fairly hard week, the boys have been acting out, are up through out the night waking me up, so I admit I haven't always dealt with things as well as I could. Here are the highlights of this week, and yes, there are some good things.

  • Bug decided he did not want to wear diapers at night, and has stayed dry!
  • Little Man coughed so much last night at 3am, that he puked.
  • The two nights that Little Man slept through, Monkey and Bug both bothered me multiple times.
  • Monkey has not been listening, lying, talking back, and hurting Bug (biting, hitting). In general driving me up the wall.
  • Little Man has spent a good portion of his awake time screaming and crying.
  • Bug has been following Monkey's example of not listening.
  • Little Man said the word 'Sock' while I was putting them on his feet.
  • Found out that Hubby will be home Monday, BUT is heading to Ohio from Wednesday to Friday.
  • Found out today that Bug did fracture his foot, but the Clinic never contacted me for follow up till Wednesday???? I am furious!

This afternoon was the icing on the cake, so to say. I had an appointment for Little Man about his cough (which is just a cough, they just want me to keep an eye on it), by the time I got back to van I was in tears! Monkey was absolutely horrible! He embarrassed me with his behavior, I felt like a failure! Bug wasn't much better. So, I got them strapped into their car seats, and proceed to have a massive crying spell while sitting in the parking lot. For the first time that day (or all week for that matter), Monkey and Bug were quiet... I think they were scarred to see me losing it like that. I just couldn't stop myself, it probably lasted for a good 10 minutes.

Things are changing around here. There is to be NO TV for the next week, or computer time. At the first transgression (lying, talking back, not listening), they are to be sent to their room. If they don't get their boots on in the morning, we will not be going to school, and the offender will be sent to their room. I will NOT yell, this has gotten me nowhere. Instead of telling them multiple times to stop something, they will be sent to their room instead. I know this will take time, but it has to happen. I will not allow my children to rule us with their behavior. I do realize they aren't all that bad (I have seen so much worse), but it is not something I will tolerate.

In a week, I will revisit the TV and computer time... but it will be much more regulated than it is now. I just wish I had done this sooner... would have saved a little of my sanity.

So, wish me luck this week... and wish the boys luck too!!

*&^%$%$^&**#@$

I'm a little upset... I knew it was likely, but I'm still very, very, very upset about it. Hubby will NOT be coming home tomorrow. The earliest he will be back is next Tuesday, which is into March already!!!! So, in a 5 week period, he will only have been home for 1 week.

He better be home next week, I really feel like I can't take much more.

I can't take much more...

I'm done.

There is just too much for me to handle easily right now. I have not had much sleep lately, due to many different things... Little Man coughing, insomnia, Bug continually waking up, missing hubby. The boys, mainly Bug and Monkey, have been driving me up the bloody wall! I talk nicely, they don't hear me. I talk more firmly, they don't hear me. I raise my voice a little bit, they don't hear me. I yell, and sometimes they hear me, sometimes they don't. And it's not like I am trying to get their attention from a long distance away... maybe 2-5 meters at the most!?!?! The fighting is getting to be a continuous sound, screaming, crying, growling (yes, my boys growl). Then there is the pushing, hitting, throwing.

To top all this off, it would appear that Hubby will NOT be coming home on Tuesday. A part of me knew it could happen, but I really, really didn't want to believe it was even possible. They are having some issues with the program they are installing, and it will make the most sense for Hubby to stay there where he is in the same country, and same time zone as his programmers. I just really need him home to help me stay sane.

I was thinking I could almost handle the extended trip, but now my throat is getting sore. I really cannot afford to be sick right now. I'm sure you can all imagine how well I will deal with my hooligans when not feeling well.

Okay... this whole week hasn't been bad, I have had some good laughs. One of the best was Monkey trying to bargain with me! We let him play some (that we approve) of the free games on HP, you can only play each game 3 times before you have to pay. I have only bought one game, and don't really have plans to buy anymore. I think this was Wednesday??? This is what Monkey said while looking at the games available. "Mama, if you buy me a game I won't scream anymore" LOL I was smart, and didn't laugh at him. I did say that I would not be buying him any games (we have this discussion at least 4 times a week), and that since he is almost 5, he shouldn't be screaming anymore as it is. He really didn't care for my answer, I got the look!

So, I am now going to have an orange, some vitamins, and read a little bit before trying to get some sleep. Let's just hope that I get enough rest to deal better tomorrow.

A strange, but good day.

The big thing for me today, was that Bug is finally putting some pressure on his foot again!!!! It is still swollen, and the bruising is a little more defined, but it is getting better. So, with this in mind, I met with a friend at the Zoo this morning. This allowed us to do something, but let Bug stay off his foot. Not sure what we will do tomorrow, but I'm sure something will come up.

Little Man's diaper rash is looking much, much better... I just wish I knew what exactly had caused it? I just have a very hard time believing that he is getting his 2 year molars already. Guess I will know in a week or so.

The strange thing for today.... Both Bug and Little Man fell asleep on the way home from the Zoo, completely expected. The unexpected was the Bug would not wake up!!! I finally went up at 5:30pm (he fell asleep at just after 1pm) to put him on the potty, and get him ready for bed. Well, he lost it, threw a completely crazy screaming, kicking fit!!! After giving up with the potty, I tried to get his diaper on... that was interesting. I finally gave up, and just left him screaming away in his room. Just after 6pm, I took Little Man upstairs to get ready for bed, and found Bug going potty... happy as could be!?!?!?

He said he was hungry, so I brought him down, and gave him some dinner. He really didn't eat much, but did drink all his milk. He is now back in bed (7:30pm), although I am pretty sure he is not asleep. I'm now a little concerned over how early he will be up tomorrow!!!

Not long enough

This week was just too short! Hubby left for England again yesterday, I hate that he is gone. He will be gone for 9 days, possibly a little longer if everything doesn't get done in time. This first week is going to be rather long, the boys don't have school at all, so no break at all. Guess I should get used to that though, since I will be schooling them in the fall. At least I don't have to rush out the door first thing in the morning.

So, it was NOT food poisoning that I had. Monkey got sick Tuesday night, and Little Man was sick on Wednesday... his first one was all over the stairs, really lovely to clean up! Bug only had the runs, and hubby didn't get anything! Thankfully we were all better by Friday, as we had arranged for the boys to be at Grandma's house for the night.

Hubby actually got me flowers!!!! I can't remember the last time he got me flowers, he also made reservations a very, very nice restaurant for dinner. I can't remember the last time I had such a nice dinner, it was wonderful. I highly recommend Il Sogno for a lovely nice dinner, the food was excellent, and the service impeccable. It was also nice to not hear any children anywhere!

Monkey is becoming a bit dramatic these days LOL. Bug shared one of his valentine suckers with Monkey. Monkey did say Thank You very nicely, but got mad at Bug for not saying Your Welcome?!?! So, he said 'I'm never speaking to you again!' LOL. Of course 5 minutes later he was doing his best to get Bug's attention to ask him a question.

I haven't written much about my Step-Father, also don't really want to dwell there... but he said something to me Friday afternoon as I dropped the boys off at their house. He said that he didn't like the way we yelled at the boys!!!! Now, I will admit, I have been yelling a bit more than I like... but of all the people to say this to me!!! For those that do know my relationship with him, you will know what it was like growing up... lot's of being yelled at, belittled, put down, and just dealt with contempt.

In some ways it is a wake up call, but at the same time... if he feels it isn't right, why did he do it to me. Of course he did imply that my memory is flawed, as well as those of his biological children. I can say, that I have never belittled my boys, nor said that they are stupid. The yelling does need to stop, but it sometimes feels like it is the only way to be heard over the noise in this house some days.

I just need to find a way to channel the anger I sometimes feel, especially the frustration. I don't always know how to deal with the attitude, and fighting that the boys do... and it's only going to get worse when Hadrian joins in. Maybe just start with a deep breath when I feel I am about to yell, and learn to walk away until I can talk calmly.

So, wish me luck this coming week that I can keep it together a little better.

Ugh... what a day!

Yesterday started off nicely, Hubby took Monkey to school in the morning. Which meant that I could relax with the other two. Yah, that didn't last all that long. Right before 10am I started to feel very off, sick to my stomach. Between chills, and bathroom runs, I got soooo tired!!!! After lunch (I could barely stomach making P&J sandwiches!?!), I put the youngest two down for a nap, popped a movie in for Monkey, and crashed on the couch. Even after naps were over, I hung out on the couch doing my best to not go back to the bathroom.

So, since having breakfast yesterday morning (eggs, toast, and tea), I have had 2 slices of toast, 6 crackers, and a very, very small amount of dinner. The strange thing is that I am not all that hungry??? Oh, the icing on this lovely couple of days (we think food poisoning since no one else is affected), is that it appears my period has started.

I had the Mirena IUD put in back in August. It started off fine, but lately I have been having issues that make me wonder if I need to have it out. The biggest issue with that is our next option is hubby getting fixed... and I'm still not 100% sure that is the route I want to take, but I also don't feel that it is the right to have another little one with where we want our life to go. The thought of traveling with 4 children is almost enough to send me into panic attacks! But it is hard to say that I am done having babies... I just don't like making things that permanent?!?! I really hope things with the Mirena settle out, it seemed like the perfect way to have long term birth control, without worrying about it!

And just where do they think they were going to go???

Mommy, can I have the key to the gate???? No honey, you cannot... why do you want it???

This was the conversation I had with my 4.5 year old this afternoon. Shortly after, I found his 2.5 year old brother on a chair in the kitchen taking my keys off the hook! They were of course quickly confiscated with a talk about taking Mommy's keys, but I would soon find out that I had the conversation with the wrong child! A very short time later I realized that all was too quiet as I tried to clean the kitchen up. A quick check around the house revealed no children, but a look in the yard gave me a surprise!

I found two little sneaky boys with the lock already off the side gate, using a key that Monkey had taken!!!! Argh!!!! Quickly make sure that the baby is safe, and run like hell to prevent my two crazy boys from escaping! I must admit that the looks on their faces when they saw me coming was priceless, although I don't think they were too impressed. I quickly locked the gate back up, and then turned to deal with my boys.

Truthfully I was a little too upset to deal with them at that point in time, so I sent them to their rooms while I had a chance to calm down and think. I could hear Monkey screaming for me to let him out the whole ten minutes that he was in there... he really does not like being sent to his room. LOL

So, I made dinner, went to retrieve them, had a chat, and then proceeded to have dinner. While eating up their P&J, I tell them that Daddy will most likely have something to say to them when he gets home... and my dear and lovely Monkey asked me to not tell him! Hahahaha! I quickly informed him that Mommy and Daddy don't have secrets and to not try that again.... poor little guy... learning so soon that we work as a team LOL.

Let's hope that tomorrow is a little more sane. Hubby is home, hopefully he doesn't have to leave again anytime soon... although I know better than to really get my hopes too high.
